Publish or Perish

In Labour’s 2001 manifesto the commitment to a referendum was replaced with a promise of a review of Britain’s experience of electoral systems. That promise was repeated in the party’s 2005 manifesto, although by that time officials in the new Department of Constitutional Affairs had already begun work on the review. The report on that review, however, has yet to be published.Today the Electoral Reform Society publishes its own report on Britain’s experiences of elections.
