Voters will be turned away at the local elections for lacking the right ID

Thursday 2nd May 2024 was a historic local election for all the wrong reasons. For the first time, voters in Wales and some parts of England will be turned away from polling stations, as they try to elect their representatives, for lacking the right forms of ID.

Voter ID was first used in the UK for May’s local elections in England in 2023. We know at least 14,000 eligible voters were denied their democratic right to cast their ballots in the local elections. How many will be turned away today?
